Report blasts Austin’s construction safety record

This is probably caused by the fact that Texas is the ONLY state that does not require workman’s compensation insurance….

According to a critical report surveying the construction industry, 20% of Austin-area construction workers last year reported on-the-job injuries that required a trip to the doctor, and 20% of those employees said employers refused to pay their medical bills.

Fire chases dozens of workers out of construction site

SALT LAKE CITY — A fire engulfed a building near 2100 South and 4250 West in Salt Lake City Tuesday morning. Fire crews were able to quickly get the blaze under control, but construction workers who were there when it started say it could have been prevented.

Construction worker falls 30 feet off from roof in Montgomery

Construction worker falls 30 feet off from roof in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY — A 35-year-old construction worker has been listed in stable condition after falling 30 feet to the ground while performing roof construction on a township home.

// The incident occurred at about 2:27 p.m. Wednesday at 591 Cherry Valley Road. When emergency workers responded, crews found Ruben Ramos of Woodbine conscious, lying on the ground on top of construction debris, police said. A state helicopter was then called and airlifted Ramos to the Trauma Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
